MBA Academics
An MBA is a general management degree that prepares
students for a range of careers. Wharton students shape their course of
study by majoring in one or two business disciplines. Comprising five course
units within a department, majors give students an opportunity to delve into
an area of interest, gaining knowledge essential for facilitating a career
switch or developing an existing specialty.
With 18 majors and 25 formal options for specialized study, Wharton
students can shape their academic experience to meet their personal career
goals. Wharton has more majors nationally ranked in the top 10 than any
other school. Courses can count toward more than one major if the topics are
interrelated, making it easier to double major, which 30 percent of the
class generally does. While students select specific majors, they also take
courses in other areas to round out their curriculum. Ten percent of the
class designs an individualized major to suit their specific professional
interests.
